MINPAC Construction

Completion Date: October 2025

Port Moresby Electrical was engaged to deliver a full electrical and fire services upgrade for the Moresby Arts Theatre, enhancing safety, reliability, and sustainability across the facility.

Our scope of work included the design, supply, and installation of new electrical infrastructure, standby power systems, fire protection, and energy-efficient lighting and solar systems.

Key Deliverables:

  • Power Generation & Distribution

    • Installed a 200 KVA diesel generator with a 405-litre base fuel tank.

    • Installed a 1,000-litre day tank with a lockable fuel dispenser and level gauge.

    • Installed a new 400A main switchboard incorporating an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), Essential Services Switchboard, Community Area Switchboard, and distribution breakers.

    • Removed existing outdated switchboards and installed new distribution boards with RCBO 30mA safety switches for enhanced protection.

  • Fire Protection System

    • Installed a Fire Indication Panel (FIP) with strobe lights, bells, horns, and a detection system.

    • Installed two (2) 84,000-litre fire water tanks and two (2) diesel fire pumps.

    • Completed underground piping works for the hydrant and hose reel network.

  • Lighting & Electrical Fit-Out

    • Installed solar street lights along the perimeter driveway.

    • Installed solar bollard lights throughout walkways and garden areas.

    • Installed split-system air conditioners and exhaust fans.

    • Installed a 12KW three-phase hybrid solar inverter system with a 32KW lithium-iron battery backup to ensure reliable and sustainable power supply.

    • Installed DC silenced fans, general lighting, and power outlets throughout the facility.

    • Removed faulty fittings and cables, and replaced them with new, compliant materials.

    • Installed cable trays, ladders, and safety signage to complete the installation.

This project modernised the Moresby Arts Theatre’s electrical and fire safety infrastructure while integrating renewable energy solutions for long-term operational efficiency and resilience.
